03/03/2010, played at Wood Norton Village Hall.
Bintree B beat Watton 6-4.
Bottom side Watton were so close to getting a draw from this one, the Hubbards pairing finally taking the doubles 11-9 in the fifth against Carol Almond and Andy Brand. It proved to be whatever the opposite of icing on the cake is for Andy, as earlier he had lost out in the fifth 11-7 each time to Matthew and Matt.
03/03/2010, played at Swanton Morley Village Hall.
Swanton Morley H lost to Swanton Morley G 4-6.
With Steve Westbury unavailable through injury, this was always going to be a difficult game for SM"H" against a strong SM"G" team. However, the match turned out to be a close encounter with the "G" team running out 6-4 winners on a long night in a cold hall with the chocolate cakes a distant memory! Ron Duncan was the hero of the night with a maximum for the "G" team, robbing David Powell of his 100% record along the way, while Richard Johnstone was the unluckiest losing his three singles, all of them going to five legs. He did get his reward though, partnering Tony Brown in the doubles and winning to secure the match. Predictably, this game went to the wire as well, 12-10 in the final fifth end!
01/03/2010, played at Swanton Morley Village Hall.
Swanton Morley D drew with Swanton Morley E 5-5.
A tight match with the final singles a great attack v defence match between the D team's David Appleby and the E's Robert Richardson. The first two sets were shaded by Appleby the Defender, 11-9, 12-10. Richardson has been on great form recently and he took the next two with a fine attacking performance 13-11, 11-8. The fifth went to the wire and at deuce The Defender took the next two points for a 12-10 win.
01/03/2010, played at Swanton Morley Village Hall.
Swanton Morley I lost to Hunworth 3-7.
Another win for the Division 3 leaders but Swanton I aquitted themselves well, with Ben Sheldrake in particular scoring a notable win 11-3 in the fifth over the experienced Stan Munn.
